How to Buy Bitcoin in Valencia in 2026: ATMs, Banks, P2P and Real Costs

简短回答

Almost every crypto ATM in Valencia is switched off: most stopped around the end of Spain's MiCA transition on 1 July 2026, Bitomat's already in May, and at least one popular directory still lists them as open. What works now is an exchange app on the CNMV list or a Spanish bank's app, paid for by bank transfer.

Spain's MiCA transition period ended on 1 July 2026, and Valencia's crypto ATMs were switched off in the weeks around it. This guide covers what still works for buying bitcoin in the city, what each route costs and where the risks are. We put it together on 3 October 2026 from the operators' own pages, the CNMV and ESMA registers, public price feeds, and police and press reports of local scams. Every price here is either a published term or our own snapshot from that afternoon. We intend to make a test purchase but have not made one yet.

Are there working Bitcoin ATMs in Valencia?

As of 3 October 2026, effectively none. Bitomat has three machines in the city, at Pl. de Joan de Vila-rasa 14 in Ciutat Vella, C/ del Ceramista Ros 18 in Patraix and the El Saler shopping centre, plus one in Gandia. A notice on each location page says they stay in place but cannot be used in Spain, with no restart date; Criptoinforme dates the stop to mid-May 2026. Kurant's Spanish ATMs are out of service too, including, according to its list and an ATM tracker, those in the Quickgold exchange shop at C/ de l'Arxiduc Carles 81 and in Alcampo at Alboraya. BitBase, with about nine Valencia points per the tracker, paused on 30 June, Criptonoticias reported.

GBTC Finance's shop at C/ de les Garrigues 1 is open, but GBTC told the tracker on 17 September 2026 that it only handles euro deposits and withdrawals for GBTC accounts there. Its Valencia page still advertises cash, card or transfer, so ask before you go. We could not confirm whether an independent machine on C/ Dr. Vicente Zaragoza still works.

Why did Valencia's crypto ATMs stop?

Kurant names the reason outright: MiCA, the EU's crypto rulebook. Firms on the Banco de España's old crypto register could keep serving customers until 1 July 2026, when Spain's transition period ran out; since then only authorised providers may operate here. The CNMV list dated 2 October 2026 has 182 entries: 15 authorised in Spain (6 banks and 9 firms), the rest EU firms passporting in. No ATM operator that served Valencia is on it. BitBase paused while it waited for authorisation, Criptonoticias reported; Bitomat's page gives no reason.

Two licensed ATM firms, Cryptonow of Austria and BITCOINMAT of Slovakia, are cleared for Spain, but neither had started here as of 30 July 2026, according to Criptoinforme. BitBase announced a CNMV authorisation at the end of July and, Criptoinforme reported, aimed to reopen in mid-September. We found no entry under the BitBase name on ESMA's register (updated 30 September) or the CNMV list, though its legal name may differ. Directory listings can lag: on 3 October 2026, dinerocripto.com still showed BitBase and Shitcoins.club machines in Valencia as open 24/7.

Which apps can a Spanish resident still use after 1 July 2026?

Any platform on the CNMV list, such as Bit2Me (Bitcoinforme S.L. of Elche), Bitpanda, Coinbase (via Coinbase Luxembourg), Kraken (via Payward Europe Solutions in Ireland), Revolut, Bitvavo, Crypto.com, OKX or Bybit. Bit2Me, Bitpanda, Coinbase and Kraken all take euros by bank transfer; Kraken's SEPA and SEPA Instant deposits are free, with a €1 minimum. One trap for holders: Bit2Me lists €10 a month after 12 months without a transaction or 3 months without a login.

Binance is on neither list. According to Finect, Binance's e-mail to Spanish customers said that from 1 July 2026 their accounts could not place new spot orders and could convert only into euros or USDC, that Binance P2P would close to them on 30 June at 09:00 UTC, and that crypto and euro withdrawals would stay open with no deadline. On 1 October 2026 Euronews reported that ESMA and three national regulators are questioning how Binance serves Europeans through its Abu Dhabi entity. As Rankia notes, moving coins off Binance is not a taxable event; selling them can trigger tax on the gain.

Can you buy bitcoin through a Spanish bank?

Yes. Six Spanish credit institutions are on the CNMV list: BBVA (since 5 March 2025), Openbank and Cecabank (24 July 2025), Renta 4 (21 November 2025), and CaixaBank and Kutxabank (both 27 March 2026). Openbank, Santander's online bank, publishes the clearest terms: bitcoin, ether, litecoin, POL and cardano from €1, a 1.49% charge on every buy or sell with a €1 minimum, and no custody fee.

Leaving is the expensive part. Openbank charges 4% to transfer coins out to another provider and does not accept transfers in, so it suits someone who wants a little bitcoin inside their bank and has no plan to move it. If your banking app shows a crypto button, open the fee schedule before you tap it. BBVA's product pages could not be read by our tools, and we did not research the retail offers of the other four banks.

Can I buy bitcoin with Bizum?

Not at the five platforms we checked. Bit2Me's published funding methods (bank transfer, card, Google Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal) do not include Bizum, Kraken's deposit page does not list it, and we found no Bizum option at Bitpanda or Coinbase. Revolut supports Bizum in Spain, Rankia notes, for sending and receiving money between people. We did not check the other platforms on the CNMV list, such as Bybit, OKX, Bitvavo and Crypto.com, so check the payment options in the app itself.

Bizum does appear on peer-to-peer platforms (Bisq, Peach, Hodl Hodl and RoboSats), where you pay a seller directly. A confirmed bizum cannot be cancelled; only the person who received it can send it back. The official limits are €1,000 per transfer, €2,000 a day and €5,000 a month sent, and your bank may set them lower. Bisq's wiki gives two different per-trade caps for Bizum (0.01 and 0.02 BTC). Be wary of cheap sellers: on 3 October 2026 the only Bizum offer among the 49 euro offers we sampled on Hodl Hodl was priced 2.6% below market.

How much does each route really cost?

Fees are only part of the bill. Spreads, deposit charges and the price of moving coins out decide what you really pay, and P2P and cash sellers build their margin into the rate itself. A maker fee applies to an order that waits in the order book, a taker fee to one that fills straight away. The table uses each provider's published terms plus our own snapshots from 3 October 2026, taken between about 16:45 and 17:00 UTC, when Kraken's euro price for bitcoin was €75,484.70. Cash-desk premiums are measured against BestChange's own market reference and P2P premiums against Kraken.

The cheapest of 21 cash desks listed for Valencia on BestChange wanted €78,680.92 per bitcoin when the page's market reference was €75,376.55, a 4.4% markup, and most of those desks would not deal below about €10,000. Entry-level fees on the advanced order screens of the regulated platforms in the table were all under 1%.

What would we do with €200 this week?

If we were buying €200 of bitcoin in Valencia this week, we would not hunt for a machine and we would not answer a cash ad. We would pick one platform from the CNMV list, fund it from a Spanish bank account, and place the order on the platform's advanced screen instead of pressing the one-tap buy button. If the platform takes SEPA Instant (Kraken does), the EU's instant-payments rule says the bank-to-bank leg settles within 10 seconds and may not cost more than an ordinary transfer.

Then we would withdraw the bitcoin to a wallet we control and keep its seed phrase offline; our glossary also covers cold wallets and custodians. Check the withdrawal fee before you buy, because it comes on top of the trading fee. The bank app is the easiest start, but Openbank's 4% fee for moving coins out makes it the wrong choice if you want to hold your own keys.

Can you still buy bitcoin in Valencia without ID?

Only through peer-to-peer apps, and privacy costs extra. The machines and the shop in town all identify you: Bitomat's El Saler page says it identifies every customer in Spain whatever the amount, GBTC requires registration and ID for every shop transaction, and Kurant's €995 limit without registration belongs to the period before its machines went dark.

Bisq, Hodl Hodl, Peach and RoboSats do not run KYC checks at present (Peach only where local rules allow it). Bisq Easy charges no platform fee on trades of US$6 to US$600, but its wiki says sellers are expected to charge about 10–15% above market. Hodl Hodl takes 0.75% per side and locks the seller's bitcoin in a 2-of-3 multisig escrow before you pay. Peach says it does not target EU users, and since about 1 September 2026 it no longer co-signs escrows, so the seller fully controls the escrowed coins. Neither Peach nor Hodl Hodl showed an in-person meetup in Valencia on 3 October 2026: Peach lists Madrid, Málaga, Barcelona and Tenerife, and Hodl Hodl's Spain-based cash offers named Madrid and Sevilla.

What about bitcoin vouchers from shops and estancos?

They are still on sale. Bitnovo, run by the Spanish company Pressbrokers S.L., sells crypto vouchers worth €25, €50, €100, €250 and €500, payable in cash or by card. Its pages, live on 3 October 2026, name El Corte Inglés, Carrefour, FNAC, Worten, Game, Eroski, estancos and petrol stations among its outlets. The costs stack up: the shop may add up to 5% of the face value, Bitnovo's spread is built into the rate, and the bitcoin network fee runs about €1 to €5. You redeem the code within 90 days through a Bitnovo account with a basic ID check.

The open question is the licence. Bitnovo shows its old Banco de España registration (D687), but we found no Bitnovo or Pressbrokers entry on the ESMA register or the CNMV list. If you buy one, ask at the counter whether it can still be redeemed from Spain. The CNMV says firms on the old register could only carry on during the transition period.

Is buying bitcoin for cash in Valencia safe?

It is the riskiest route. According to El Debate, three men went on trial before the Audiencia de Valencia in February 2026, accused of paying for €58,800 of crypto at a Valencia hotel in December 2022 with counterfeit notes, of which only €1,200 were genuine; the prosecutor asked for 3 and 6 years. We have not seen a verdict. TodoAlicante reported in June 2024 that a seller at a central Alicante hotel had sent crypto and received €22,400 in fake notes, while an accomplice used a money-counting machine to look credible.

In the Guardia Civil's “Magictheft” case (2024), covering 20 frauds including some in Valencia, the gang sent 2.50 USDT, claimed it was 2,500 and collected €2,500 in cash at crypto shops. In September 2026 the Spanish press, citing the Guardia Civil, reported that a man in Finestrat (Alicante province) had been tied up in his rented flat for hours and forced to transfer crypto. Spanish law caps cash payments at €1,000 whenever a business or professional is involved. More patterns are in our guide to common bitcoin scams.

Do I pay tax on bitcoin in Spain?

Not when you buy it with euros. The bill comes when you sell, and also when you swap one coin for another: the Agencia Tributaria treats a crypto-to-crypto swap as a disposal, and the value at that moment becomes the new coin's cost. For tax year 2025, savings-base gains were taxed at 19% on the first €6,000; 21% up to €50,000; 23% up to €200,000; 27% up to €300,000; and 30% above that. We found no change for 2026. Sales are matched first in, first out and declared in box 1804. A €500 gain taxed at 19% means €95.

Two more rules catch Valencia residents. Modelo 721 applies if more than €50,000 sits with custodians abroad on 31 December, with wallets you control excluded; it is filed between 1 January and 31 March. For wealth tax, the 2025 manual gives the Comunitat Valenciana an allowance of €1,000,000. EU-wide DAC8 reporting by crypto platforms has applied since 1 January 2026. This is general information; ask a tax adviser about your own case.

Where does EX5 fit in?

EX5 is not a way to turn euros into bitcoin today. There is no euro market on EX5: all 44 of its markets are quoted in USDT. It becomes useful once you already hold coins, for example bitcoin bought on an exchange app (Openbank charges 4% to move coins out). Deposits are free. You can deposit BTC, credited after 2 confirmations, or USDT on Tron (TRC20) or Ethereum (ERC20), then trade 44 USDT pairs at a 0.2% maker and taker fee. The fee is not the whole cost, so check the live best bid, best ask and spread on our bitcoin price page before you trade; every pair is listed under Markets.

Withdrawing bitcoin costs 0.00004625 BTC, with a minimum withdrawal of 0.00013875 BTC. USDT withdrawals cost 2.22 USDT on TRC20 and 2.04 USDT on ERC20, and the minimum USDT deposit is 15 on TRC20 and 10 on ERC20. You need to complete identity verification before you can withdraw.

常见问题解答

What is the name check my bank shows when I send euros to an exchange?

It is Verification of Payee, a free check of the recipient's name that comes with every euro transfer since 9 October 2025. Your bank reports a match, a close match, no match, or that the check was not possible. If the exchange's account name does not match, ask the exchange before you send.

Can my Spanish bank block a transfer to a crypto exchange?

Yes. The Banco de España says a bank may block a transfer to buy crypto if it suspects fraud or identity theft, or rates the payment as high-risk under anti-money-laundering rules. It may call you or ask you to come in, and it should explain why. If you disagree, complain to the bank first and then to the Banco de España.

Can I pay by card, Apple Pay or PayPal instead of a bank transfer?

At some platforms, at a cost. Kraken charges €0.25 plus 3.75% on debit-card deposits (€10 minimum), offers Apple Pay and Google Pay in its app from €10 with rolling 7-day limits, and holds PayPal deposits for 72 hours before you can withdraw. Bit2Me accepts cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal, and may add 1.99% when you pay in euros. Forum users also report Spanish banks declining card payments to exchanges.

Does Hacienda see my Bizum payments?

Since 1 January 2026 banks report each month the card and Bizum-type payments that businesses and professionals receive (Real Decreto 253/2025); Bizum says transfers between private individuals are not reported. Gains from selling crypto still have to be declared, and EU-wide DAC8 reporting by crypto platforms has applied since 1 January 2026.

How are staking rewards and airdrops taxed?

Differently from a sale. The Agencia Tributaria's assistant puts staking rewards in the savings base as investment income (box 0027), while airdrops and hobby mining go into the general base (box 304).

Do I have to declare cash I bring into Spain?

Yes, from €10,000. Cash of €10,000 or more entering or leaving Spain, and €100,000 or more moved within Spain, must be declared beforehand on the official forms (S-1/E-1 and S-2/E-2). When a private individual who is not tax-resident in Spain pays a business, the cash limit is €10,000 rather than €1,000.

我们的研究方法

We researched this guide on 3 October 2026 without opening accounts, buying anything or contacting operators. We read the ATM operators' own location and status pages (Bitomat, Kurant, GBTC Finance) and a Valencia ATM tracker updated on 28 September 2026; counted the CNMV list of authorised crypto providers (PDF dated 2 October 2026) and searched ESMA's interim MiCA register (updated 30 September 2026) by name; read the fee pages and cost documents of Bit2Me, Bitpanda, Kraken, Openbank and Revolut; and read police notes and press reports of crypto scams in Valencia and Alicante. For Bizum we checked Bit2Me, Bitpanda, Coinbase, Kraken and Revolut, but not Bybit, OKX, Bitvavo or Crypto.com. Between about 16:45 and 17:00 UTC we took price snapshots from Kraken's public BTC/EUR ticker, BestChange's cash listings for Valencia and Hodl Hodl's public offers API; premiums are our own calculations (cash desks against BestChange's reference price, P2P offers against Kraken). We could not verify coinatmradar's live count for Valencia (the site blocks automated access), Coinbase's simple-buy spread and card fee or Revolut's crypto fee table in force since 10 August 2026 (both sites blocked our tools), BBVA's retail crypto product, BitBase's legal-entity name and reopening date, or whether the B2Bitcoin machine still works. The El Debate report on the Valencia hotel trial could be read only as a headline and search snippet. Where a fact rests on a press report, the text names the outlet. We have not made a test purchase; until we do, every price here is a published term or a snapshot.
